Re-envisioning Community Health and Healthcare

“Re-envisioning Community Health and Healthcare,” aims to address health and healthcare inequities as they reflect and reproduce longstanding, broader systemic and structural inequities. In particular, we will focus on issues of central concern for VCU and for the Richmond community: the history of medical racism at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV, now VCU School of Medicine) and health disparities among birthing people. Our project will bring together researchers from the humanities, social sciences, nursing, and medicine, along with community providers, who will help students learn to apply innovative transdisciplinary methods and approaches as they conduct research, help raise awareness, and generate solutions.
